DESCRIPTION:Invitation\n\nThis film is a fairy tale for the generation\, wh
ich has much of despaire and\nwho’s only way to imagine the future is the
hope\, a generation with no certain\ndate of birth\, but with certain circ
umstances of life. What can the\ntrickster-magician\,  Dark Clouds of Apoc
alypses\, Fish\, Dead drummer\,\nMuse-Leaving-Germany\, Dice Roll and othe
r minor rebel agencies (the protagonists\nof this movie) tell us about our
selves living in landscapes marked by ecological\nruin\, failed revolution
s\, and the unease of the present?\n\nWhat we want to achieve with this fi
lm screening is to open the discussion\nbetween the spectators and the aut
hors of the film\, who come to Mainz in the\nhope to find a place where un
formal diolog between the people\, who this film was\nmade for and the peo
ple who made the film would be possible. Everybody is\nwelcome to come and
to participate.\n\nAuthors present: Tsaplya Olga Egorova\, Dmitry Vilensk
y\n\nAbout the film\n\nSongs of Hope and Despair (2026) a new film by Chto
Delat International directed\nby Tsaplya Olga Egorova is an improvised fa
iry tale and highly experimental road\nmovie in which a group of strangely
costumed\, non-professional\nperformers—Russian exiles and their friends—
set out on an absurd quest for a\nmiracle. Inspired by two key historical
works\, Werner Tübke’s Panorama of the\nPeasants’ War and Rainer Werner Fa
ssbinder’s The Niklashausen Journey\, the film\nunfolds in the former mini
ng town of Hettstedt as an unabashedly lo-fi magical\ngame and tragicomic
musical.\n\nOscillating between enchantment and exposure\, mourning and pl
ay\, the film asks a\ndeceptively simple question: what does a miracle eve
n look like in politically\ndire times like these? Drawing past and presen
t into a single ritual procession\,\nSongs of Hope and Despair reflects on
	 manipulation and resistance\, despair and\nstubborn hope\, insisting—like
all true fairy tales—on the fragile persistence of\nsolidarity even when
	history seems trapped in cycles of defeat.\n\n\n\n\n * 18:00 - Küfa\n \n
